Sixth Form

The Sixth Form Careers programme enables students to become aware of their skills and make informed decisions about their applications for post 18 pathways, whether that is university, apprenticeships, college, employment or a gap year.

We offer a bespoke Careers Service open to all students. In Year 12, this is partly delivered through the tutorial programme, alongside a dedicated Careers Day in the Summer Term where students receive tailored support on post-18 options and have the opportunity to meet employers and learn about different career pathways. We strongly encourage all Year 12 students to undertake a work experience placement, with guidance provided to help them make the most of this valuable opportunity.

Year 12

Students gain a clearer understanding of their skills, interests and career aspirations. They will begin to understand the range of pathways available and have an opportunity to participate in meaningful encounters with employers, workplaces and further/higher education providers through presentations and the opportunity to attend in person and virtual work experience, summer schools and HE programmes.

Year 13

Students will have a clear and informed post-18 progression plan, with appropriate alternative options. They will be able to confidently research and evaluate university, apprenticeship, training and employment opportunities. They will develop employability and professional skills required for successful transition beyond Sixth Form and understand key aspects of independent living and working life, including workplace expectations, financial awareness and personal responsibility.

Students will be able to complete high-quality applications, CVs, personal statements and/or supporting statements, appropriate to their chosen pathway and understand as well as prepare for selection processes, including interviews, assessment activities and recruitment procedures
