SEND

The school has a highly regarded Learning Support Department. Our whole school policy for inclusion and SEN is available on our website and it outlines the steps taken to ensure that students with SEN are given equality of opportunity and access.

The Learning Support Department works with teaching staff, the Heads of Departments, Heads of Years and the Pastoral Support Team to identify, assess, plan and review the special educational needs of students at St John Fisher. We have established strong transition links with primary schools so that we can make full use of the information provided by Year 6 teachers. When pupils start at St John Fisher, the student progress is regularly monitored through the school reporting process. For some students it is also monitored through the Education, Health and Care Plan process.

Our whole school policy is to provide appropriate support whilst enabling students to access a broad and balanced curriculum, which can be personalised to meet individual need. Some students may receive a personalised intervention programme depending on identified needs.
