Transport

General
If you live more than 3 miles from the school, and this school is designated as the nearest Catholic Secondary School for your address, your son/daughter is entitled to assisted transport, up to a limit of 12miles.   This is organised by the appropriate education authority and not by the school, please be aware that we have more than 30 buses arriving at the School.

Bad Weather
A decision will be made before 7am, listen to local radio stations.
If buses are cancelled and you decide to bring your child to school, be prepared to take them home.

Transport does not turn up
The LEA’s have asked that you be reminded that you
as parents are responsible for your child until they board the bus. In the event of the bus not arriving you must give your child clear instructions as to what to do;  i.e. go home, to neighbours/relations etc. Allow 10/15 minutes for the bus to arrive.  Ring the Transport authority concerning the bus and inform the school of the problem.

North Yorkshire
Pupils who travel free

The Primary school has informed Local Education Office of your child’s transfer. North Yorkshire Authority will be sending your child’s bus pass directly to the Primary School, hopefully in the first two weeks of July.   Timetables are available at this meeting.  If you have any queries, or need reassurance that your child’s bus pass is in the system you can ‘phone North Yorkshire, School Transport - 01609 535693.   If you have not received a pass by second week of August you need to ‘phone them.

If you live in North Yorkshire but your child goes to a school outside of North Yorkshire [e.g. St Joseph’s Wetherby] please make sure that you have applied for the bus pass.

Pupils who pay    Harrogate & District Travel will operate the Yellow Bus Network.   They are sending a flier to all the Harrogate & Knaresborough Primary Schools for distribution to the pupils.  This flier will include a pre-paid return slip for receiving up-to-date information on timetable and fares.   Harrogate & District Travel  also operate a Super Saver Pass which allows secondary school pupils to travel ½ fare up to Y11.
Their telephone number is 566061

Behaviour

Some children may be travelling for an hour, make sure they have something constructive to do;  book to read etc. The responsibility for behaviour on the bus rests with the parents and not the school. Extreme cases of mis-behaviour may result in a bus ban, initially for a fixed term period.
